Headland Man Facing 6 Felonies Has Bond Reduced

HEADLAND, Ala. (WDNews) — A Headland man arrested in early January 2026 on multiple felony charges appeared in court Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing, according to public records.

Troy Daniel Smith was initially charged with two counts of sexual abuse and one count of first-degree rape. Since that time, while out on bond additional charges have been filed, including two counts of electronic stalking and one count of second-degree domestic violence.

Smith appeared before Henry County Judge Spencer Danzy on Tuesday, Feb. 24. During the hearing, his bond was reduced from $1.5 million to $65,000, records show.

He is currently facing six felony charges. Court records also indicate protection orders have been granted for the victims.

According to information available in court records, the case is expected to move to a grand jury. A date for that review is currently unknown.

At the time of his arrest, Smith was serving as a Lieutenant Governor with the Kiwanis organization and had previously served as President of the Headland Kiwanis Club.

The case remains ongoing.
