WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WDNews) — A pursuit involving a stolen SUV ended with a suspect being found hiding under a shed in northern Walton County, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies and the Florala Police Department responded Wednesday to the area of County Highway 2 and County Highway 147 West following a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle.
Authorities said the suspect, identified as Zachary DeWayne Talbot, 44, of Paxton, jumped out of the stolen SUV and fled.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search, and K-9 “Beau” located Talbot hiding under a shed near the Children’s Home Community Center, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
Florida Highway Patrol and Walton Correctional K-9 teams also responded to assist with the search.
Talbot is being transported to the Walton County Jail and charged with grand theft auto, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities said the stolen SUV is being towed back to Alabama to be returned to its owner.
