Dothan, Ala. (WDNews) — Multiple recalls have been announced for Ford F-150 trucks in early 2026, affecting millions of vehicles across several model years, according to reports.
One of the largest recalls impacts about 1.4 million trucks due to a gearshift issue. Reports state the problem involves a transmission range sensor that may send incorrect signals, potentially causing an unintended downshift into second gear. That issue could lead to rear tire lockup and increase the risk of losing control.
Another major recall affects roughly 4.3 million vehicles, including 2021 through 2026 F-150 models. According to reports, a software error in the integrated trailer module could cause trailer brakes to fail or exterior lights to stop working while towing.
A separate issue has also been identified in certain 2022 through 2026 F-150 Lightning electric trucks. Reports indicate the integrated park module may fail to engage the parking mechanism, increasing the risk of a vehicle rolling away.
Officials say dealers will update software or repair affected components at no cost to owners. Ford began notifying dealers on April 15, 2026, and plans to send letters to impacted vehicle owners by April 27.
Owners are advised to contact their local Ford or Lincoln dealer to schedule service if their vehicle is included in the recall.
