(WDNews) — Residents in Daleville are being urged to use caution after reports of scams involving Cash App transactions.

According to community reports, individuals have claimed to sell goods or services, requested payment through Cash App, and then failed to deliver after receiving funds. In some cases, victims reported the seller stopped responding immediately after payment was sent.

Authorities and consumer protection groups warn that peer-to-peer payment apps like Cash App are intended for transactions between people who know and trust each other. Once money is sent, it can be difficult to recover.

Common scam tactics include requesting upfront payments for items that never arrive, posing as a service provider, or creating a sense of urgency to pressure someone into sending money quickly.

Residents are encouraged to avoid sending money to strangers, verify sellers before making payments, and report suspicious activity through the app and to local law enforcement.

Anyone who believes they may have been targeted is advised to stop communication immediately and not send additional funds.
