DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — An employee has died following an incident Tuesday afternoon at Dothan Virtual School.
According to authorities, Dothan Police were dispatched around 4:20 p.m. after receiving a call in reference to a self-inflicted hanging at the school. Officers responded to the scene and began an investigation.
Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd confirmed the death to Wiregrass Daily News.
Dothan City Schools Public Relations Officer Karris Harmon said the district is aware of the situation and is cooperating with law enforcement.
“We are aware of an incident involving an employee and are investigating. Dothan Police Department are also investigating,” Harmon said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
