ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) — Families in Enterprise will soon have a new place to play as the city prepares to celebrate the grand opening of a new playground at Johnny Henderson Family Park.
According to the City of Enterprise, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Thursday, Oct. 29, at 4 p.m. at the park, located at 1901 Neil Metcalf Road. The public is invited to attend.
The new playground replaces aging equipment with an expanded play area covering approximately 9,520 square feet.
City officials say the playground features modern equipment, including separate play areas for younger and older children. The new space also includes slides, climbing structures, swings, tunnels and musical play elements.
Shade structures and durable turf surfacing have also been added to make the playground more comfortable for families.
Accessibility was a major focus of the project. According to the city, the playground includes features designed to give children of different ages and abilities more opportunities to play, explore and interact.
The improvements were funded through the city’s fiscal year 2026 Capital Improvement Program, which supports investments in parks, recreation and other community facilities.
The city encourages families and community members to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebrate the completion of the project.
The event will also mark the reopening of the playground for families to enjoy its new equipment and improved amenities.
