DOTHAN, Ala. — A complaint about a strong foul odor coming from a Dothan pet grooming business prompted a response from police and animal control Thursday, Aug. 20.
The complaint was reported around 10:48 a.m. at Northside Plaza on Ross Clark Circle after an odor was reportedly affecting a neighboring business.
The odor was traced to Jo’Jo’s LaundroMutt, a pet grooming business at 3702 Ross Clark Circle.
Dothan police responded to the location, and Dothan Animal Control was called to assist.
According to information obtained by WDNews, there was no electricity inside the business, and animal remains were allegedly found inside the property.
Witnesses from neighboring businesses told WDNews that multiple species of animals were found dead inside the business. WDNews has not been able to independently confirm the number or types of animals involved.
At this time, it is unknown who was responsible for the animals that were reportedly left at the premises.
A seven-day notice to pay rent or quit was posted in public view on the business door. The notice was addressed to Brandi Tyrrell and indicated rent had been unpaid beginning in June 2026.
It is not immediately known how long electrical service had been disconnected at the business or how long the animals had been inside without electricity.
According to the Dothan Police Department, an active investigation into the incident is ongoing. No additional information has been released at this time.
