DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The Dothan Police Department will host a K9 Gunfire Integration Course Dec. 1-3, 2026, at the Wiregrass Public Safety Center in Dothan.
According to the department, the three-day course is designed to enhance handler and police dog confidence during gunfire situations through gradual desensitization methods and positive reinforcement training techniques.
The training focuses on helping K9 teams perform effectively in real-world law enforcement environments where firearms may be present.
The course fee is $325 and includes ammunition. Officials said 9mm and .40 caliber ammunition will be provided.
Training will be held at the Wiregrass Public Safety Center, located at 100 Public Safety Center in Dothan.
