Mobile, Ala. (WDNews) — A singer from south Alabama is now in the national spotlight after winning one of television’s top music competitions.
Alexia Jayy, a native of Irvington in Mobile County and a graduate of Alma Bryant High School, was crowned the winner of The Voice during the Season 29 finale on April 14.
Jayy stood out throughout the competition with strong vocal performances that earned consistent praise from coaches and viewers. Competing on Team Adam Levine, she advanced through each round and secured the top spot in the live finale.
Her victory marks a milestone for the show. Jayy is recognized as the first Black woman to win the U.S. version of “The Voice.”
The season concluded after weeks of competition, with Jayy outperforming the remaining finalists to claim the title. Along with the win, she receives a recording contract and national exposure as she begins her professional music career.
Supporters across Alabama are celebrating her achievement, pointing to her journey from a small Mobile County community to a national stage.
