Abbeville Man Arrested in Henry County Child Exploitation Case

ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WDNews) — A 54-year-old Abbeville man has been arrested following a child exploitation investigation in Henry County.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Special Agents with ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Rodger Loftin on Tuesday, Feb. 24, around 6:30 p.m.

Authorities said the investigation began after SBI received a tip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Loftin is charged with two counts of possession with intent to disseminate child sexual abuse material and two counts of electronic solicitation of a child.

He was taken into custody at a residence in Abbeville and booked into the Henry County Jail.

ALEA said the investigation remains active. Anyone with information, or who believes they may have been impacted, is asked to contact SBI’s Crime Hotline at 1-800-392-8011. Officials said all information will be handled confidentially.

ALEA also thanked the Henry County Sheriff’s Office for assisting in the case.

Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Henry County District Attorney’s Office.
