DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Wiregrass residents now have more time to help shape the future of transportation in the region.

The Southeast Wiregrass Area Metropolitan Planning Organization is updating its 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan, which will outline a vision for the area’s transportation system over the next 25 years.

Officials announced the public survey deadline has been extended through March 13. The survey is available on the City of Dothan’s website homepage.

The multimodal plan will identify projects and strategies for roads, bicycle and pedestrian paths, railroads, airports and transit systems throughout the region.

Public engagement remains a primary focus of the planning process. Outreach efforts include stakeholder meetings, an online survey, digital engagement and participation at community events.

Completion of the plan will allow the MPO to apply for federal funding to help implement projects identified in the final document.

Residents are encouraged to participate and provide feedback before the extended deadline.
