One Man Dead After Domestic Shooting in NEW BROCKTON

NEW BROCKTON, Ala. (WDNews) — Authorities are investigating a deadly domestic violence shooting that happened early Wednesday in NEW BROCKTON.

According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and NEW BROCKTON Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of Fitzsimmons Street on the morning of Dec. 11.

When officers arrived, they found 41-year-old Timothy Shawn Benway deceased inside the home from an apparent gunshot wound.

Sheriff’s officials say the preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred during a domestic violence altercation inside the residence involving a family member who was present at the time.

The case remains under active investigation by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, NEW BROCKTON Police Department, the Coffee County Coroner’s Office, and the District Attorney’s Office.

No additional details have been released, and authorities say more information will be provided as it becomes available.
