Former Lucy Fire Chief Accused of Stealing $26,000 from Department

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — A three-month investigation by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office has led to the arrest of former Lucy Volunteer Fire Chief Anthony Westbrook Sr.

Deputies say the case wrapped up on Dec. 11, 2025, uncovering what investigators described as a pattern of misuse of the department’s debit and credit cards. Westbrook is accused of stealing more than $26,000 while serving as fire chief.

According to the sheriff’s office, Westbrook has been charged with one count of first-degree theft of property and 67 counts of fraudulent use of a debit/credit card.

He was booked into the Houston County Jail, where he is being held on bonds totaling $164,000.
