DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — A Dothan man has been arrested in connection with a September crash that killed a pedestrian on South Park Avenue.
Police say 22-year-old Jaquan Smith was taken into custody Friday, December 5, and charged with criminally negligent homicide. Officers were called around 1 a.m. on September 24 after a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
According to previous reports, the driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with officers. Charges state that Smith hit and killed 45-year-old Fatimah Borders in the 1200 block of South Park Avenue.
Although Smith was dressed as a woman at the time, he was booked into the Dothan City Jail as a male. Smith remains behind bars as the case moves forward.
