DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — The 5th Annual Paws & Claus event set for Saturday, Dec. 6 at EASTGATE PARK has been cancelled due to expected bad weather. Organizers say the decision was made to keep families — and their pets — safe. They’re already looking ahead to bringing the event back in 2026.
For anyone still hoping to help local animals this season, community members are encouraged to visit Joy’s Pet Haven on Facebook for ways to support pets in need.
Even with the cancellation, organizers aren’t letting the holiday spirit go to waste. Panera Bread of Dothan, this year’s breakfast sponsor, will host Paws & Claus: Drive-Thru Edition on Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 7–11 a.m. at 3515 Ross Clark Circle.
Guests can swing through with their dogs to enjoy a free bagel and hot chocolate, and each pup will get a treat. The first 50 visitors will also pick up a free swag bag for their furry companion.
Organizers say they hope the community will stop by and enjoy this fun, low-key twist on the holiday tradition.
