ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) — A section of Damascus Road will be closed overnight next week as crews continue long-term infrastructure upgrades across the city.

City officials say Damascus Road from N. Main Street to N. Rawls Street will shut down from 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10. The closure is part of Enterprise’s ongoing waterline replacement project, coordinated with the Alabama Department of Transportation. Drivers will see signage directing traffic to the proper detour route.

The multi-year, $2.9 million project aims to replace aging water infrastructure and ensure reliable service for residents. Crews began the latest phase in late May and expect work to continue for about a year. By the time the project wraps up, nearly 25 miles of water lines will have been replaced since 2020 — an investment topping $13.5 million.

City leaders thanked residents for their patience while improvements take place.
