Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News sat down with representatives from Live Health Smart Alabama, Program Manager Anita Dawkins and Program Coordinator Tabitha Ford, about an upcoming community health fair aimed at improving access to preventive care in the Wiregrass.

The event will take place April 25 at the Dothan Housing Authority from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in collaboration with Troy University, local medical partners, and ACOM student volunteers. Organizers said the fair will offer free screenings for hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, and BMI, along with educational sessions to help residents better understand their health numbers.

Beyond screenings, the initiative will also introduce mobile wellness and a future mobile market designed to bring healthy foods and services directly into underserved communities. Leaders emphasized the goal of meeting residents where they are, especially those who may have difficulty accessing regular healthcare.

The event is free and open to the public, with family-friendly activities, vendors, and health professionals on site.
