Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News marked a special milestone with our interviewer, Katelyn’s, 100th interview, sitting down with members of Southeast Alabama Community Theatre, Anna Lokey (director) and Addison McNeal (lead), to talk about their upcoming youth production, Anastasia.
The production is the youth edition of Anastasia, running about one hour and created largely by students. From choreography and costumes to stage management, hair, makeup, and crew work, students play a major role behind the scenes with guidance from adult mentors. Organizers say the experience gives young performers hands-on exposure to professional-style theater production.
Anastasia is based on the Broadway adaptation, blending historical fiction with fairy-tale elements and music familiar to fans of the original film, along with newer songs from the stage version. Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. at SEACT, with Friday nearly sold out. Tickets are $22 and available at SEACT.com. The production highlights the talent, dedication, and creativity of student performers from across the Wiregrass.
