Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News sat down with Clay Dempsey to discuss a new busking policy coming to downtown Dothan, along with upcoming events at the Civic Center, Opera House, and city park. The policy, set to take effect March 1, will allow registered musicians to perform in designated areas near Porter Park and Foster Street, as well as inside the park. Performers must register through the Performing Arts Department and follow specific guidelines to ensure performances are appropriate and coordinated with downtown events.

Dempsey shared that the park has already seen more than 10,000 visitors since opening in August, making it a prime location for live music and community engagement. He also highlighted a packed calendar of upcoming events, including major concerts at the Civic Center, off-Broadway productions at the Opera House, and Performing Arts Week around Mardi Gras.

Mardi Gras celebrations downtown will include live music, food trucks, vendors, and road closures throughout the area. Dempsey encouraged the public to stay informed through city updates and Wiregrass Daily News as events approach.
