Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News met with Nikki and Joely of the Charis Foundation to discuss the upcoming Pet and Kid Parade returning to Dothan’s Garden District later this month.
The annual event, now in its eleventh year, was formerly hosted by the Mystics of Solomon Park and is now being presented by the Mystics of Charis at Solomon Park. The parade will take place Saturday, January 24, with registration from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. for a $10 entry fee.
A free community event open to the public will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and will feature inflatables, putt-putt golf, food vendors, face painting, balloon animals, mask making, bracelet making, and activities for both kids and pets. The Wiregrass Humane Society will also have a booth at the family event.
The parade will begin at 1 p.m. and follow a one-block route through the neighborhood before returning to the park. The Charis Foundation is also actively seeking mascots to participate, including the Chick-fil-A Cow, Chuck E. Cheese Mouse, and McDonald’s Hamburglar.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wiregrass Humane Society.
