Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily sat down with Kylie Spears, director of Meredith’s Miracles, to discuss the nonprofit’s mission and its end-of-year fundraising campaign. Meredith’s Miracles is a 501(c)(3) children’s foundation that helps families across 26 counties cover non-medical expenses like food, gas, and lodging when a child must travel for specialized medical care.
Spears explained the organization works closely with hospitals and social workers to identify families in need, often assisting those who must travel out of town or even out of state for treatment.
The foundation does not receive government funding and relies entirely on donations, fundraisers, and its thrift store in Andalusia to continue serving families.
This year, Meredith’s Miracles has already helped more than 423 children, surpassing last year’s total. Spears said the end-of-year campaign is critical to ensure the foundation can continue meeting growing needs without turning families away.
Donations can be made online at meredithsmiracles.org, where supporters can give one-time or set up monthly contributions to help families focus on their child’s care instead of financial stress.
