Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News sat down with Southeast Alabama Dance Company artistic director Ashlie Wells to talk about the return of a beloved holiday tradition in Dothan. Now in its forty-seventh season, SEADAC is celebrating its Emerald season, a nod to the way its dancers shine on stage. Each year the company presents two major productions at the Dothan Civic Center, including its signature classical ballet, The Nutcracker.
This year’s Nutcracker runs December 5–7 at the Civic Center. Friday features the only evening performance with a pre-show dinner at 6 p.m. and the ballet at 7 p.m., followed by matinee shows Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The production brings together more than 150 dancers and crew members, with company dancers beginning Nutcracker rehearsals as early as July.
Tickets are available directly through the Dothan Civic Center box office to help patrons avoid online ticket scams. For more information or to purchase seats, residents can call 334-615-3175 and kick off the Christmas season with Tchaikovsky’s timeless score.
