Dothan, AL. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News sat down with Stephanie McKnight to spotlight City Hope, an organization dedicated to supporting foster children and the families who welcome them.
Operated in partnership with City Church, City Hope provides free clothing, diapers, wipes, household essentials, frozen meals, and more to foster families throughout the Wiregrass. When a new placement arrives, families can immediately visit City Hope’s Dogwood Court location in Dothan to gather what they need, easing the adjustment during an already challenging time.
As Christmas approaches, City Hope is working quickly to match sponsors with foster children who have submitted wish lists.
Donors are encouraged to purchase directly from these lists to give each child a personalized and joyful holiday. The number of children needing sponsors has dropped from more than two hundred to around eighty-five, but the December 4 deadline is fast approaching.
Those interested in helping can visit cityhopewiregrass.com, email the organization, or stop by during their posted hours. McKnight also directs the Miss Ambassador of Hope Pageant, founded in 2021 specifically to support City Hope’s mission.
The event has raised over ten thousand dollars and collected thousands of donated items for foster families over the years.
Registration for the 2026 pageant, set for May 2 at Headland High School, is now open, and all paperwork can be found in the Miss Ambassador of Hope Paperwork Facebook group.
