DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) – At 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, reports of an explosion and fire sent Dothan firefighters to the 2000 block of Cecily Street.

According to Deputy Chief Chris Etheredge with the Dothan Fire Department, crews arrived to find “a large shed and part of a fence were on fire.” He said the shed “stored lawn equipment and gas cans,” and added that “the explosion sound was possibly caused by a pop off valve on a tank.” There was no shed or house explosion.

The fire has been ruled an electrical fire. Etheredge said it had already been burning before anyone at the home realized there was a problem. “The fire had a head start on us. The homeowners were unaware, neighbors called it in,”  Etheredge explained.

Dothan firefighters quickly regained control of the blaze without incident. There were no injuries or suspicious activity reported with this fire.
