Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News caught up with Ashley Brown of SARCOA to highlight their heartwarming holiday charity, Santa for Seniors. Ashley, who serves as outreach coordinator, explained how the program supports older adults and individuals with disabilities who may feel overlooked during the Christmas season. Many seniors in the Wiregrass live alone, lack local family, or rely on fixed incomes, making the holidays especially difficult.

Each year, SARCOA case managers identify their most vulnerable clients and gather simple wish lists filled with practical items—cleaning supplies, blankets, crossword puzzles, or even small appliances. This year, roughly 500 seniors are seeking sponsors. Community members can visit sarcoa.org to browse wish lists by county, choose a senior, and help make their holiday special.

Donation drop-off days are scheduled for December 6, 12, and 13, followed by volunteer opportunities to sort, organize, and wrap gifts before SARCOA’s team delivers them. Ashley said reading through the wish lists is her favorite part, noting how meaningful these small, thoughtful requests can be for local seniors.
