Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News sat down with Candice Maddox and Jamie Peacock to talk about “Fill the Float,” a community effort organized by six all-female Mardi Gras groups—Charis, Order of the Black Dress, DMG, MOG, KOP, and Thalian.
The initiative was quickly launched to support the Wiregrass Area Food Bank amid growing needs tied to recent SNAP benefit changes.

The event will be held this Friday, November 14, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 103 Apple Avenue in Dothan, across from Grove Park. Participants can drive up and drop off non-perishable items like rice, peanut butter, canned vegetables, and cereal, with volunteers on hand to unload donations.
The goal is to “fill the float” with enough goods to restock the food bank’s shelves.
Those unable to bring food items can contribute financially through wiregrassfoodbank.com/howtodonate, ensuring funds go directly to the organization to help feed families across the region.
