Dothan, Al. (WDNews) -Wiregrass Daily News sat down with organizers Rachel Snipes and Travis Parker to discuss the upcoming Sweat 4 Vets Ruck March, a fundraiser supporting Wiregrass Honor Flight.

The event will take place Saturday, November 15, beginning at Mitchell Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m., with opening ceremonies kicking off at 8 a.m.

Participants will have the option to join a 5K walk or take on the full 11.11-mile ruck around the Boll Weevil Circle. Those choosing to ruck are encouraged to carry weighted backpacks, with suggested weights of 35 pounds for men and 25 pounds for women, though all are welcome to participate at their own pace.

Many participants bring canned goods or pet food in their packs to later donate to SOS Animal Shelter or Hand Up Enterprise.

Water and nutrition stations will be placed along the route, and family activities will be available with the support of the Alabama National Guard. Food trucks will also be on site.

Proceeds will help provide meaningful Honor Flight experiences for local veterans.
