Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass daily news met with Tyler Kent, representative of The Uncarried, to discuss a free QPR suicide-prevention training set for Tuesday, Sept. 23.

Kent described The Uncarried as a community-led effort to promote emotional honesty, reduce stigma and amplify local mental-health resources. He said it is okay to not be okay but not okay to stay there, and that personal struggles and gaps in support inspired the group.

The two-hour workshop, taught by A Spark, will run 2–4 p.m. at the Dothan Housing Authority in the Old Carver school building, 1001 Montana Street. Snacks will be provided; attendees may register at Jot form here, though walk-ins are welcome.

Kent encouraged residents to visit The Uncarried on Facebook for updates and to volunteer. Organizers said more events are planned. For information, email theuncarried@gmail.com or call 205-413-2304.

Kent said small acts such as creating safe spaces or offering a simple smile can help a community grappling with suicide.
