OPP, Ala. (WDNews) — Les Sanders has stepped down as head football coach of the Opp Bobcats while the season is still underway. The reason for his departure is not currently known.
Sanders was named head coach in January after spending the previous two years as Opp’s defensive coordinator under Ed Rigby. Rigby left to take the head coaching job at Pike County.
Sanders previously coached at Geneva and Luverne. He has compiled an 86-64 career record over 13 years as a head coach.
The change comes during a crucial week for Opp. The Bobcats travel to Escambia County on Friday night for a must-win Class 3A, Region 1 matchup with a playoff berth on the line.
