Chipley, Fla. (WDNews) — According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a 56-year-old man has been arrested following an investigation into a reported sex offense involving a minor.
Officials say the sheriff’s office was notified April 15, 2026, of the allegations. After an on-scene investigation, Scott Eli Cowell of Chipley was taken into custody.
Cowell is charged with sexual battery involving a victim under the age of 18, with an offender 18 years of age or older.
Authorities say Cowell was transported to the Washington County Jail. No additional details have been released.
