Walmart Recalls Cottage Cheese Across 24 States, Including Alabama

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDNews) — Walmart is recalling select cottage cheese products sold in 24 states, including Alabama, due to a potential health risk, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported Thursday.

The recall affects products produced by Saputo Cheese USA Inc. that may contain liquid dairy ingredients that were not fully pasteurized. The issue was discovered during pasteurizer troubleshooting in collaboration with the California Department of Food and Agriculture.

No illnesses or hospitalizations have been reported in connection with the affected products. However, the FDA warned that consuming improperly pasteurized dairy products can pose significant health risks, especially for young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Affected items were sold under Walmart’s Great Value brand and distributed to stores and distribution centers between Feb. 17 and Feb. 20, 2026, in Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Consumers who purchased any of the recalled products are advised not to eat them. They can return the items to the store for a full refund or discard them.
