Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – Wiregrass Daily News sat down with Pastor Eddie Littlefield and Sylvia Green of Harpers Joy Assembly of God as the church prepares to mark its 100th Anniversary. The congregation first became an Assembly of God church on January 6, 1926.
The milestone will be celebrated over two Sundays in January. On January 4th, the Alabama Ministries Network Superintendent, Dr. Ken Draughon, will speak at the 10:30 morning service. The celebration continues January 11th with General Superintendent, Dr. Doug Clay, bringing the message also during the 10:30 service.
The second weekend also features a kickoff concert on Saturday night, January 10th, with gospel duo Jeff and Sherry Easter. The free event begins at 6pm, with doors opening at 5pm, and is open to all denominations and the community.
Church leaders are especially hoping to see former members, families with historic ties to the congregation, and neighbors from around the Wiregrass.
Harpers Joy Assembly of God is located at 1512 Harper Joy Road, just off Hodgesville Road outside Dothan.
