ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) — Enterprise City Council approved a $99,885,600 budget for fiscal year 2027 on Oct. 20, with funding for police and fire services, street paving, schools and park improvements, according to a city news release.
The budget includes $16.5 million in combined funding for the Enterprise Police and Fire departments. That money supports personnel, equipment, training and daily operations, including new patrol cars and a firefighting response vehicle.
Another $1.5 million is dedicated to the next phase of the city’s street paving program.
“We are continuing to invest in the people, services and places that make Enterprise a strong community,” Mayor William E. Cooper said in the release.
The city said the spending plan includes continued City Hall renovations and a new roof, wayfinding signs, and a new helipad and runway extension project at Enterprise Municipal Airport.
At Johnny Henderson Family Park, planned work includes splash pad upgrades, softball complex improvements and lighting, replacement fencing around soccer fields, and bridge maintenance and repairs.
The budget also includes $4.488 million in appropriations and contracts supporting community organizations and initiatives. The largest allocation is $2.5 million for Enterprise City Schools, in addition to the city’s tax allocation to the school system and funding for school resource officers and crossing guards.
Other recipients include Enterprise Rescue, Enterprise Public Library, Wiregrass Transit Authority, Enterprise State Community College and Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The city also budgeted for employee training and professional development, new Christmas decorations, and preservation of local landmarks. Plans include a protective glass enclosure around the Boll Weevil Monument statue at City Hall.
Contracts with the Enterprise Chamber of Commerce and Wiregrass Economic Development Corporation are also included.
