DOTHAN, Ala. — The Dothan Fire Department is seeking local businesses and community partners to sponsor its annual “Going for the Gold” 5K & Family Fun Day, which will benefit the Developmental Therapeutic Program for Childhood Cancer Support.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at Water World/Westgate Park, located at 401 Recreation Road in Dothan.
According to the department, the fundraiser offers businesses an opportunity to support a family-friendly community event while gaining exposure through sponsorship recognition. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Developmental Therapeutic Program for Childhood Cancer Support.
Sponsorship opportunities are available at multiple levels, ranging from $100 to $1,000. Benefits vary by sponsorship level and may include T-shirt advertising, race entries and recognition during the event.

The department said sponsorship donations must be received by Aug. 3 to be included on the official event T-shirt.
