DOTHAN, Ala. — A teenager was shot Wednesday evening in Dothan after police say two juveniles were recording an amateur music video using a real, loaded firearm as a prop.

According to Dothan police, the Dothan Communications Center received a call around 6:30 p.m. June 24, 2026, about a person shot inside a residence in the 400 block of Donna Drive.

Officers rushed to the scene and found a teenager under the age of 18 suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Officers rendered emergency medical aid until Dothan Fire Department medics arrived and took over treatment.

Police said the juvenile was transported to a local hospital for treatment and will be transferred to another hospital for further care. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

As investigators arrived to collect evidence, police learned the victim and another teenager, also under the age of 18, had been recording an amateur music video that involved a real, loaded firearm being used as a prop.

During the recording, police said the suspect discharged one round from the firearm, striking the victim. The suspect then fled the scene after the shooting.
