ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDNews) — Hometown athlete Marcus Jones returned to Enterprise High School on Tuesday as part of All In Credit Union’s “Game Plan for Success” program, an initiative focused on leadership, goal setting and financial literacy for students.

The City of Enterprise welcomed Jones back to his alma mater, where he met with student-athletes, parents, educators and community members gathered in the EHS gym.

Enterprise Mayor William E. Cooper opened the event by reflecting on Jones’ journey from a local student to a professional football player.

“When Marcus came to Enterprise in middle school, he quickly became part of this community,” Mayor Cooper said. “He had big dreams, and he worked hard every step of the way to pursue them.”

Cooper highlighted Jones’ accomplishments, including earning Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year honors at Troy University, being selected in the 2022 NFL Draft and competing on football’s biggest stage in the Super Bowl.

“What stands out most is not just what Marcus has achieved, but how he got there,” Mayor Cooper said. “It took hard work, discipline, and perseverance. It took showing up every day and staying focused, even when things were not easy.”

The mayor also stressed the value of exposing young people to real-world success stories.

“As someone who spent many years in education, I have always believed that young people need to see success up close. It helps them understand that their goals are possible and that where you start does not determine where you can go.”

During the event, Cooper presented Jones with a City of Enterprise Mayor’s Challenge Coin in recognition of his accomplishments and continued connection to his hometown.

Enterprise City Councilwoman Sonya Rich also presented Jones with a City of Enterprise America250 commemorative coin, recognizing the occasion as part of the city’s ongoing participation in America250 celebrations.

Jones, a former Enterprise High School standout in football and track, delivered his “Game Plan for Success” presentation, sharing lessons on perseverance, faith, mentorship, financial literacy and responsible decision-making both on and off the field.

Following the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to meet Jones and hear more about his journey from Enterprise to collegiate and professional football success.

According to the city, All In Credit Union’s “Game Plan for Success” program is designed to equip students with tools for life beyond the classroom, including goal setting, financial awareness and leadership development.

The event was open to the public and drew a strong turnout from students, families and community members.
