Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – City of Dothan Special Assistant to the Mayor Shirley and Dothan Performing Arts Director Clay joined What’s Happening Wiregrass to share details about the Downtown America 250 Celebration, the city’s largest downtown event to date.
The free, family-friendly celebration takes place Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. and features more than 30 food vendors, over 50 retail and farm vendors, live music, a kids zone with rides and games, a car show, Touch-a-Truck, interactive exhibits from Landmark Park, strolling entertainers, and a community mural project limited to the first 200 participants.
Guests also highlighted a presidential exhibit inside the Civic Center Arena featuring a full-size Oval Office replica, presidential memorabilia, and a vehicle used in President John F. Kennedy’s motorcade.
The celebration concludes with a custom-designed drone show at 9 p.m., featuring 300 drones synchronized to music. Those unable to attend downtown can watch from around the Circle and tune in to 95.5 WTVY for the accompanying soundtrack.
Officials also encouraged residents to attend Friday night’s Tri-State Orchestra performance at the Dothan Opera House, which will feature patriotic music paired with historical video and firsthand accounts from local veterans. Tickets are $2.
