Dothan, Al. (WDNews) – What’s Happening Wiregrass welcomed Lavonda and Joey from SEACT to discuss their upcoming production of The Glass Menagerie, a classic play by Tennessee Williams. The story follows Tom Wingfield as he reflects on memories of his family life, blending emotion, nostalgia, and the complexities of relationships.
The production features a small but powerful cast of four, allowing each character’s depth to truly shine. Joey, who plays Amanda Wingfield, shared that stepping into the role has been both challenging and rewarding, especially with the character’s layered personality and expressive dialogue.
This performance also highlights unique elements like character-driven music and lighting, emphasizing the play’s “memory” style storytelling. Behind the scenes, a mix of seasoned veterans and new participants have come together, showcasing the collaborative spirit of community theater, with Lavonda serving as producer.
Opening night is set for April 23, with shows running through April 25 at 7 p.m. each evening. Tickets can be purchased online through SEACT or at the door prior to showtime, giving the Wiregrass community a chance to experience high-quality local theater.
